Learning objectives

Competences, knowledge and skills

The Management profile aims to develop the following competences, knowledge and skills:

  • Specialist knowledge relating to governance, management and organisational processes in different types of firms and inter‑firm structures.
  • A systemic vision of economic, social, legal, cultural and technological phenomena, consistent with recent developments, drivers of change and the international perspective across companies of various sizes.
  • The acquisition of advanced—also quantitative—models and tools for managing decision‑making processes within the various business functions.
  • A solid understanding of managerial logics (efficiency, cost‑effectiveness, flexibility, sustainability).
  • Communication, teamwork, learning, initiative and leadership skills, as well as abilities in conflict management and in supporting organisational change and innovation.
  • Fluent written and oral use of two European Union languages, with particular attention to discipline‑specific terminology.

Competences, knowledge and skills

The study plan fosters the acquisition of a systematic and integrated understanding of the firm, mastery of mathematical–statistical tools, and knowledge of the principles and institutions of national and international legal systems.

The pathway includes, as a fundamental training component, a compulsory internship, which allows students to:

  • Expand the set of competences provided by the academic pathway through professional knowledge that can only be acquired in the workplace.
  • Support their career choices through direct experience in the world of work.

More specifically, the study plan and the teaching methods adopted are designed to develop the ability to:

  • Formulate strategies and make decisions in different competitive contexts, including through the preparation of strategic plans and business plans.
  • Define corporate marketing and communication policies in order to build effective relationships between the firm and its markets.
  • Assess the impact of capital structure choices on investment decisions.
  • Apply financial valuation techniques and value‑creation models.
  • Design organisational systems and manage human resources in the context of organisational innovation and change.
  • Manage production systems, material and product flows, and the distribution chain.
  • Develop synergistic relationships with local stakeholders, particularly with public administrations.
  • Analyse the determinants of economic growth and the drivers of sustainable development.

Compulsory internship

The pathway includes a compulsory internship as a key educational component, which enables students to:

  • Expand the competences gained within the academic training pathway through professional knowledge that can only be acquired in the workplace.
  • Support their career choices through direct experience in the world of work.
