Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore promotes the international experience of its students through a network of collaborations and agreements with foreign universities and numerous study programs (Erasmus, Overseas, ISEP, Study Abroad, IMACS, LaTE Language Training Experience, International internships, International Volunteering, Summer programs, etc.).

Students interested in carrying out a period of university study abroad have the following references:

  • the professor of the International Mobility Commission of the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy, contact person for the course of study in which the student is enrolled, to define the study program and validate the approval document of the exams that the student will take abroad and that will subsequently be recognized for the purposes of graduation at the UCSC;
  • a Faculty tutor to support international mobility, in the person of dott.sa Miriam Rita Tessera (miriamrita.tessera@unicatt.it), who supports the student in the role of orientation and intermediation with the teaching staff for the academic aspects of international mobility;
  • the UCSC International office, for the organisational aspects relating to the period of study abroad (info.outbound@unicatt.it).

The contact person for the Communication for Business, Media and Complex Organizations degree course is Dr. Giancarlo Grossi - giancarlo.grossi@unicatt.it

The course of study is accredited by the International Advertising Association – IAA, the world association of corporate communication professionals present in over 70 countries (https://www.iaaglobal.org/).

The specialization in "Communication and Marketing for Media Companies, Culture and Territories" allows access to the International Program in Film and Audiovisual Studies (IMACS, International Master in Audiovisual and Cinema Studies), which allows you to carry out a year of study at some of the most prestigious international universities in the field of media and communication research (Birkbeck College London; University of St. Andrews; Goethe-Universität 32 Frankfurt am Main Ruhr-Universität Bochum; Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora; Universidad Pompeu Fabra Barcelona; Université de Lille; Université de Liège; Université de Montréal; Universiteit van Amsterdam; Université Paris Nanterre; Université Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3; Stockholms universitet) and to obtain a degree recognised by a list of prestigious European universities (http://imacsite.net/).

The professors in charge carry out orientation activities in the choice of university abroad and evaluate the Program Plan, containing the exams that the student will take abroad and that will subsequently be recognized for the purposes of graduation from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore.

All examinations to be taken abroad must be agreed with the reference professors before departure and in any case it is not possible to request the inclusion in the study plan, instead of optional exams, of exams taken abroad and not previously agreed with the referent professors.

The UCSC International office takes care of agreements with universities abroad and assists students in organising their study period abroad.

Upon returning to Italy, the student must submit the documents certifying the exams taken abroad via the Program Plan platform.

The professors, appointed by the Faculty for the recognition of foreign exams, will convert the evaluation obtained in the exams abroad into thirtieths, based on the official conversion tables published on the Faculty's website. Finally, the Faculty Council decides on the approval of such conversions and the assignment of the corresponding ECTS to the student.

Specific guidelines for students of the Master's Degree Programme in Communication for Business, Media and Complex Organizations – CIMO

  1. Students are required to fill in the Program Plan before departure, which can be accessed from their iCatt page.
  2. The subject responsible for approving the Program Plan is the CIMO Mobility Commission. No other subject (including the professors in charge of the individual courses) is entitled to approve the equivalence proposals.
  3. A general and necessary condition for the validation of an examination is that the corresponding courses produce a final evaluation.
  4. Validation will only be carried out for master's level exams: preparatory or introductory courses will not be validated.
  5. For the purpose of validating exams The number of hours of lectures does NOT count; only ECTS or equivalent count.

Exams with a different number of ECTS from that of the exam in the study plan may also be taken into consideration, with a maximum deviation (under or over) of 2 ECTS. The assessment of equivalence will be at the sole discretion of the Mobility Commission and will take into account, in addition to the criteria already stated, the specific activities envisaged by the course.

If the exam abroad has a lower program and number of credits than those of the UCSC exam, it will also be possible to request to count two exams taken abroad (of a similar subject) for a single exam in one's study plan.

6.   Courses of a practical-applicative nature, related to the themes and training objectives of CIMO, may be validated as seminars.

All students of the Faculty are given the opportunity to take exams abroad that are supernumerary to their study plan, which can then be included in the Program Plan even if they have no equivalent at Università Cattolica, subject to the approval of the International Mobility Commission.
