An internship (or curricular internship) is a learning experience that allows students to apply the knowledge they've acquired during their university studies in a real-world work context. It's a fundamental component of the curriculum, designed to facilitate entry into the workforce and develop specific professional skills.

Duration : minimum 2 months, for a total of between 160 and 320 hours.

Training credits (CFU) : the curricular internship provides for the attribution of 3 CFU for the INTERNSHIP (3 months part-time)

Tutor : each internship includes a university tutor and a company tutor.

Allowance : Any expense reimbursements are at the discretion of the host institution.

Insurance coverage : The Catholic University guarantees insurance coverage against accidents at work (INAIL) and for civil liability towards third parties

  1. Contacting the university tutor : Before starting the procedure, it is necessary to consult the Faculty's internship tutor to define the timing, methods, and content of the internship.
  2. Host organization registration : the host company or organization must register on the ST&P portal (http://step.unicatt.it) and request an agreement with the University.
  3. Completing the training project : once the agreement is activated, the host institution enters the internship details on the ST&P portal, specifying the university and company tutors.
  4. Approval : The training project must be approved by the student, the university tutor and the Internship & Placement Service.
  5. Start of the internship : After approvals, the internship can start on the agreed date

  • Internship agreement : agreement between the University and the host institution.
  • Training project : a document that defines the objectives, activities, and methods of the internship.
  • Any additional documents : may be requested based on the specific needs of the degree course or the host institution.
  • For a detailed guide with all the technical steps to follow on the portal, download the official document .

At the end of the internship, you must:

Complete the final project evaluation questionnaire

The final questionnaire is completed by the host organization using the online form available on the ST&P portal. After accessing the "Internships and Traineeships" section, click "View internship history," locate the relevant internship, and click "Evaluate project" in the individual internship box (next to "View project"). The host organization can complete the questionnaire from 5 days before the end of the internship until 30 days after its end. Students are asked to check with their company tutor that the questionnaire is completed and submitted correctly, as this is mandatory for credits to be recognized.

Verify the registration of your credits on iCatt

  1. Once you have completed your internship and completed the procedure on the ST&P portal, you must log in to your iCatt personal page and check, in the career/exams section, that the credits for the internship have been correctly registered.
  2. In the event of any discrepancies or failure to register, it is advisable to contact your internship tutor to avoid possible delays in the graduation process.

  1. Can I replace my internship with a foreign language course?
No, foreign language courses are not considered elective training activities that replace an internship.
  2. Is there any reimbursement for the curricular internship?
The participation fee is at the discretion of the host institution.
  3. What should you do if problems arise during your internship?
Contact your university advisor immediately to address and resolve any issues.
  4. I can have an ongoing or previously completed job recognized as a curricular internship.
To be recognized as equivalent to an internship, the job must be in the relevant field of study and cannot have occurred prior to the start of the academic program.
  5. I've completed the required number of hours to obtain credits. Can I interrupt my internship?
Internships can only be interrupted for valid reasons, which must be assessed by the tutor. Early termination of the internship may jeopardize the recognition of training credits.
