Course Outline

The course is divided into two curricula corresponding to two distinct profiles:

  • one reserved for professional socio-pedagogical educators intending to work in early childhood educational services (according to the criteria established by Legislative Decree no. 65 of 13 April 2017);
  • the other aimed at professional socio-pedagogical educators interested in working in personal services, with school-age children, adolescents, adults or the elderly and in the field of training.

The course includes laboratory training activities both to promote design and operational skills in the educational field and to acquire language and computer skills.

Credits

To obtain the three-year degree, 180 university credits (CFU) are required, which are acquired to the extent of about 60 each year with evaluation tests both for the courses and for other supplementary teaching forms. Each exam is awarded a certain number of credits, the same for all students and a grade (expressed in thirtieths) that varies according to the level of preparation.
The final examination is expressed in one hundred and tenths.

Acquisition of university training credits (CFU) for access to the profession of educator in early childhood educational services

The degree course allows access to the professional outlets of the figure of the professional socio-pedagogical educator, recently regulated by Law 55/2024 on the Regulation of pedagogical and educational professions and the establishment of the related registers.

Ministerial Decree 378/2018 provides that the educator of early childhood educational services must hold a degree related to class L-19 Education and Training Sciences with a training course that meets minimum requirements of at least 55 ECTS obtained with training activities (teaching, workshops, internships) related to certain subject areas and with specific content related to childhood issues (0-3 years), In particular:

  • at least 10 ECTS in the SSD M-PED/01 and/or M-PED/02 with specific content on childhood 0-3 years;
  • at least 10 ECTS in the SSD M-PED/03 and M-PED/04 with specific content on childhood 0-3 years;
  • at least 10 ECTS in the SSDs PSI/01 and M-PSI/04 with specific content on childhood 0-3 years;
  • at least 5 ECTS in the SPS/07 or SPS/08 SSDs with specific content on childhood 0-3 years;
  • at least 5 ECTS in at least two of the SSDs MED/38, MED 39, MED/42 or M-PSI/08 with specific content on childhood 0-3 years;
  • at least 5 ECTS of laboratories in the SSD M-PED/01, M-PED/02, M-PED/03, M-PED/04, M-PSI/04 with specific content on childhood 0-3 years;
  • at least 10 credits of internship, of which at least fifty percent of the hours of direct internship carried out at the educational services for children referred to in Article 2, paragraph 3 of Legislative Decree no. 65 of 2017.

Students who enrol in the academic year 2025-2026 and choose the Educator profile in early childhood educational services automatically adhere to the provisions of Ministerial Decree 378/2018 and Legislative Decree 65/2017 regarding the acquisition of university credits necessary to operate as an educator in early childhood educational services.
