Participation in the competition is subject to the completion of the online registration procedure, the booking of the chosen session(s) and the payment of the participation fee of € 250.00 through the PayPal circuit accessible only from the registration platform.

It is possible to take up to two tests. There will be two exam sessions according to the following schedule:

FIRST ROUND

  • 28 FEBRUARY and 1 MARCH 2025

SECOND ROUND

  • 11 and 12 APRIL 2025

Those who, in the manners set forth in art. 3 of the competition notice, apply from 9 January 2025 until 14 February 2025 will be able to participate in both rounds of the test.

Those who apply from 3 March 2025 and no later than 28 March 2025 will only be able to participate in the exam round on 11 and 12 April 2025.

There are no exceptions to the registration deadlines.

The University reserves the right to add supplementary exam dates if necessary in terms of the number of candidates registered for the test.

The final merit ranking lists of each degree programme will be drawn up according to the criteria set out in art. 8 of the call for applications, always preserving the choice of the degree programme and the order of preference expressed during the registration phase (first and possible second choice) and then the best score obtained in the tests taken, if more than one test has been taken, or in the only test taken.

You can participate in the competition if you are:

  • in possession of an Italian or foreign diploma;
  • enrolled in the last year of secondary school in Italy or abroad, provided that you graduate from high school by 31 July 2025.

Students enrolled in the PENULTIMATE year of high school can NOT take the test or keep their score for admission to the academic year 2026/27.

The admission tests will be delivered in computer-based multi-session mode in person at exam centers identified in the cities of Rome, Milan, Naples, Bari, Reggio Calabria, Catania, Palermo, Cagliari.

Places at each venue and per session are limited and assigned until places are available, taking into consideration only registrations completed according to the criteria expressed in art. 3 of the Notice of Competition.

The general list of convocations, indicating the venue, date and time of the test of each candidate, for the aforementioned exam rounds will be published respectively:

  • From 21 February 2025 for the 28 February and 1 March 2025 round;
  • From 4 April 2025 for the 11 and 12 April 2025 round.

If, due to contingencies or organisational reasons, it is necessary to make changes to the calendar of the tests or to the modes for administering the test, candidates will be informed through notices on this page.

Carry out the online registration procedure and from the Competition Registration Summary page click on "Pay and book". You will be able to choose the VENUE and the EXAM SESSION from the list proposed by the University, subject to availability.

Once you have selected your venue/session of preference for each reference session, you must pay the participation fee (€ 250.00).

PLEASE NOTE: Payment must be made within 60 minutes of booking.

  • If you do not pay within the 60 minutes provided, the place reservation will be cancelled and you will have to repeat the booking operation - choosing from the sessions available at the time of accessing the platform - and pay (always within 60 minutes of the new booking);
  • Once the payment has been made, you will receive an e-mail confirming your booking and the fee payment. Only then will the procedure be successfully concluded.

The information regarding the registration for the competition and the payment made is always available in your reserved area under the "Log" menu item of the portal and is the only official source for the confirmation of the registration and the choices expressed (round, venue, date, time and payment).

Any change of venue/session must be carried out by re-accessing the booking platform and is allowed only within the registration deadlines of each session (i.e. by 14 February 2025 for the first round and from 3 to 28 March 2025 for the second round in April).

After these deadlines, no change of venue and/or session will be allowed for the reference round.

It is possible to select up to two integrated degree programmes for which to apply, indicating, in this case, the order of preference (first choice and second choice).

The order of preference, if expressed, is binding for the purposes of the drafting of the final rankings of the two degree programmes.

The degree programme to apply for or the order of preference expressed can be changed before the deadline for submitting applications for the first round in which the candidate has enrolled (i.e. by 14 February 2025 if you have registered for both rounds of tests or by 28 March 2025 if you have registered exclusively for the second round of the exam).

In any case, if the candidate has already taken the test in the first round, he/she may NOT change the degree programme or order of preference for the second round of the exam.

Each ranking list will be drawn up taking into consideration:

  1. first of all the choice of degree programme or the order of preference, if expressed;
  2. secondly the best score obtained in the written test.

Therefore, each ranking list will be composed first of all of the candidates who have indicated the degree programme as their "first" or "only" choice, respectively ordered on the basis of merit, then of the candidates who have indicated the same degree programme as their possible "second" choice respectively ordered on the basis of merit.

If you are "admitted" to the programme of preference (first choice), your position in the ranking of the degree programme of second choice will automatically be cancelled, and you will have to enrol in the programme of preference.

On the contrary, if you are "admitted" in the programme of second choice, where indicated, the position in the ranking list will always be maintained in the programme of preference (first choice) for any subsequent scrolling.

If you are "not admitted" to any degree programme selected during enrolment, you will still be placed in the ranking list for the programmes indicated as both first and second choice and, based on merit, you may be called upon to take over if your score is equal to or greater than 15 points out of a total of 60.

For further details on the drafting of the ranking lists, please consult the competition notice (art. 8).

The admission test consists of a written test of sixty (60) multiple-choice questions, which present five answer options, among which the candidate must identify one only by not considering the erroneous, arbitrary or less probable conclusions. The questions are distributed as follows:

  • 20 logical-reasoning questions
  • 30 questions on scientific culture: 10 on chemistry, 10 on biology, 5 on physics and 5 on mathematics (with elements of logic)
  • 5 general knowledge questions
  • 5 questions of ethical-religious culture

A maximum time of 60 minutes is allocated for the test (plus 8 minutes for the so-called "reserve questions").

A maximum score of 60 (sixty) points is allocated for the evaluation of the test according to the following criteria:

  • 1 point for each correct answer;
  • minus 0.25 points for each wrong answer;
  • 0 points for each answer not given.

In order to be admitted to each degree programme in any case, it is necessary to achieve a final score of not less than 15 points out of a total of 60 points achievable.

In consideration of the need to carry out several test sessions and in order to guarantee equal treatment, transparency, impartiality and the smooth running of the selection, separate exams will be prepared for each session in compliance with the criteria of balancing the various types of questions. At the end of the exam (whether it coincides with the end of the maximum time allowed or voluntary early closure) each candidate must answer a further 8 questions in 8 minutes; the 8 reserve questions are automatically assigned by the exam platform (one per each subject).

These "reserve" questions will NOT count towards the assessment of the test unless, after all the scheduled sessions have been held, an anomaly emerges in one or more questions that leads to their cancellation. Only in this case, having ascertained the criticality, the University will evaluate the cancellation and the replacement of the question with the reserve question relating to the same subject, in order to guarantee the objectivity of the evaluation and equal treatment between the candidates.

Once you have paid the admission test fee, you will have free and unlimited access to the online simulation platform made available by the University. The link to the simulation platform will be available on the summary page (you will not receive the link via email but you will need to re-enter your registration profile).

Can I participate even if I haven't graduated from high school yet?

Students enrolled in the last year of secondary school at institutions in Italy and abroad that allow them to obtain a valid qualification pursuant to the ministerial provisions for admission to higher education programmes of the Italian system may also participate, subject to subsequent verification of the achievement of the access qualification.

I am enrolled in the penultimate year of high school, can I take the test and keep my score for admission to the a.y. 26/27?

Students enrolled in the PENULTIMATE year of high school CANNOT take the test or keep their score for admission to the academic year 2026/27.

Can I take the test more than once? What is the admission test schedule?

Candidates may take up to two tests. In fact, there will be two exam rounds according to the following schedule:

  • First round: 28 February and 1 March 2025
  • Second round: 11 and 12 April 2025

If I have registered for the first round, can I also participate in the second round?

Candidates who apply from 9 January 2025 to 14 February 2025 will be able to participate in both the rounds indicated. Those who apply from 3 to 28 March 2025 will only be able to participate in the exam round of 11 and 12 April 2025.

Can I apply for all three integrated degree programmes in the selection?

It is possible to indicate up to two integrated degree programmes for which to apply, specifying, if applicable, the order of preference (first choice and possible second choice). The order of preference, if expressed, is binding for the purposes of drawing up the final ranking lists of the two degree programmes (carefully check the rules in the competition notice).

Can I change my chosen degree programme or order of preference?

The degree programme or the order of preference, if expressed, can only be changed by the registration deadline of the first round in which you have registered (i.e. by 14 February 2025 if you are participating in both rounds of the test or by 28 March 2025 if you are only participating in the April round).

How are the merit ranking lists drawn up and what are the criteria for the allocation of places?

Each ranking list will be drawn up taking into consideration first of all the choice of the degree programme or the order of preference, if expressed; secondly, the best score obtained in the written test will be taken into account.  Therefore, each ranking list will be composed first of all of the candidates who have indicated the degree programme as their "first" or "only" choice, respectively ordered on the basis of merit, then of the candidates who have indicated the degree programme as their possible "second" choice respectively ordered on the basis of merit. The candidate who is "admitted" to the programme of preference (first choice) will be automatically cancelled from position in the ranking in the degree programme of second choice. On the contrary, if he/she is "admitted" to a programme of second choice (where indicated), he/she will always maintain his/her position in the ranking in the programme of the preference (first choice). For further details on the drafting of the rankings, please consult the competition notice.

I can change the venue and the exam session, how should I proceed? And within what deadlines?

The change of venue/session is allowed only within the registration deadlines of each round (i.e. by 14 February 2025 for the first round and by 28 March 2025 for the second round).

It is necessary to go back to the registration portal, check the new venue/session availabilities and make a new reservation that will automatically replace the previous one. You will receive an e-mail confirming that the session has been modified and that you have been convened again, replacing the previous one that is no longer valid.

After this deadline, no change of venue and/or session will be permitted.

How can I check that I have chosen the right session and that I have registered correctly?

All information regarding registration for the competition and payment is always available in your reserved area under the "Log" menu item of the portal and is the only official source for confirmation of registration and the choices expressed (round, venue, date, time and payment).

I am a candidate with a disability and/or Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), how can I request additional time and/or compensatory tools?

You must explicitly request it on the appropriate pages of the competition registration procedure and upload the certification to the system. Candidates with disabilities are entitled to an additional time not exceeding 50% more than that provided for the written test in addition to any additional measures based on the type of disability. Candidates with SLD, if the diagnosis complies with the law, are granted an additional time equal to 30% more than that provided for the test and further compensatory tools will only be allowed in the most serious cases verified by a special University Commission.

For more information, please consult art.4 of the competition notice.

5 general knowledge questions;

5 questions of ethical-religious culture.

At the end of the exam, each candidate must answer 8 additional questions in 8 minutes automatically assigned by the exam platform (one per subject). These "reserve" questions will NOT count towards the assessment of the test unless, after the scheduled sessions have been held, an anomaly emerges in one or more questions that leads to their cancellation.

What are the scientific subject syllabi?

The syllabi related to the scientific culture questions are listed in Annex "A" of the call for applications.

How can I get ready for the ethical-religious culture questions?

It is possible to consult the texts recommended by Università Cattolica, a list of which is available on this web page.

During the test, it is strictly forbidden to use mobile phones, calculators, tablets, online-enabled devices and to consult printed books and/or manuscripts and notes. You will be able to bring a pen; blank sheets of paper for notes will be provided to you by the University.

Do high school grades or high school diploma grades confer score? What about other international certifications?

When will the final ranking lists be published?

The final merit ranking lists of each degree programme will be published only once both rounds of the test have been concluded, i.e. from 28 April 2025, automatically taking into account the best score obtained in the two tests, or the only final score achieved if you have participated in only one of the two exam sessions.

Once I have been admitted, how do I proceed with enrolment? What is the schedule?

From 28 April to 6 May 2025, candidates placed in a good position in the reference ranking list must pre-enrol in the integrated degree programme to which they have been admitted by following the online procedure described in art. 10 of the Notice of Competition and pay the first instalment of the university tuition fees and contributions.

Subsequently, from 1 to 25 July 2025, they will have to enrol remotely, accessing their profile in the online enrolment system, and upload the required documentation as specified in art. 11 of the Notice of Competition.

Candidates who do not comply with the above deadlines will be considered to have withdrawn and the places that are vacant will be made available to the other candidates by scrolling through the ranking list.

Once enrolled, how can I withdraw from enrolment? Will I be able to receive a refund for the amount paid?

Using the "Forms" section on the institutional portal of the Rome Campus (https://studenticattolica.unicatt.it/strumenti-e-supporto-modulistica - Application for withdrawal from studies), students must access their enrolment profile and follow the online procedure until the appropriate forms have been completed.

Once the withdrawal has been made, the fee paid for the place reservation will be fully refunded if requested within 14 days from the date of payment. After this deadline, no refund will be made.

If I take part in the Medicine-Dentistry-Medtec test at Cattolica, can I also take the other admission tests, including those of the state universities?

Yes, there is no obstacle to taking several admission tests, even in other universities. However, it is necessary to comply with the admission procedures and deadlines provided for each selection.

What is the best textbook to prepare for the test?

Università Cattolica does not have, nor does it recommend, a specific textbook for preparing for its admission tests. Once the registration for the competition has been completed, it is possible to practice for free and unlimitedly with the exam simulator platform which makes use of a vast archive of quizzes proposed in previous years. For optimal preparation, it is also recommended to enrol in the preparation courses specifically organised by Università Cattolica as an additional support service.
