A distinctive aspect of the programme is its multilingual structure: lectures and theoretical coursework are conducted in English, while clinical internships are carried out in Italian- and German-speaking healthcare settings. This enables students to develop effective communication skills with both medical staff and patients in this trilingual region, preparing them for professional practice in diverse, multicultural healthcare environments.

The programme features an innovative and integrated curriculum that, from the first year, combines basic sciences with clinical training. It also places strong emphasis on human sciences and bioethics, which are essential for building meaningful and effective doctor-patient relationships.

Students gain hands-on experience through clinical rotations at the Central Hospital in Bolzano and other facilities within the South Tyrol Hospital Network, ensuring exposure to a wide range of medical specialities and healthcare settings.

To support multilingual proficiency, students have also access to extracurricular language courses in Italian and German. These language classes complement clinical placements and enhance communication skills, ensuring professional fluency in South Tyrol’s unique trilingual healthcare context.

Università Cattolica offers a transparent fee structure for the Medicine and Surgery programme, with annual fees set at €18,000*, payable in five manageable instalments. To support students from diverse backgrounds, the University offers a range of scholarships and financial aid options based on merit and income criteria.

Eligible students may apply for:

  • Merit-based scholarships
  • Need-based financial support
  • International student funding opportunities
