The programme in a nutshell

The degree programme is active at the ROME CAMPUS of Università Cattolica at Policlinico A. Gemelli

Professionalism and human sensitivity: a figure at the service of others

Choosing this path means wanting to mature, in addition to technical and scientific skills, strong interpersonal skills and a strong ability to work in a team.

The programmes are organised in facilities located throughout the country: the partnerships activated with hospitals, health authorities and institutes allow training to be carried out in different locations before the final qualifying exam for the profession.

Teaching methodology

Direct experiences are the real added value of these programmes: in addition to lectures, from the first year students are involved in practical training activities and clinical internships (with professional tutors).

And then?

The new programme qualifies for the health profession of Hearing Care Professional, a technician engaged in the application of hearing aids.

Presentation

The undergraduate degree programme in Audioprothesic Techniques is qualifying for the health profession of Hearing Care Professional, a professional who is responsible for "supply, adaptation and control of prosthetic devices for the prevention and correction of hearing impairments". The degree programme aims to provide the theoretical and scientific bases necessary to know the alterations of the auditory system and communication, the technical aspects of all hearing aids, in particular of conventional hearing aids, and of their indications and applications in the treatment of hearing loss and hearing dysfunctions. Particular attention will be paid to prosthetic applications in special categories of patients (paediatric age, senescence, "frail" patients) and to advanced technology hearing aids. The training also provides for the acquisition of appropriate knowledge of the psychological and social aspects related to deafness, but also of the skills necessary for interdisciplinary collaboration and the organisation and management of one's professional activity. A large and growing space during the three-year period is allocated to internship activities in the clinical and audioprosthetic environment, an indispensable training tool for the exercise of health professions.
