The Faculty of Education participates with its teaching, organizational and research resources, together with the "A. Gemelli" Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, in the activation of this interfaculty graduate degree programme.

Skills/knowledge

The programme of the Graduate Degree in "Sciences and Techniques of Preventive and Adaptive Motor Activity" is mainly articulated with courses in the medical and motor-adapted fields and aims to offer an organic framework of theoretical and practical knowledge and skills related to the maintenance of health through movement and the practice of motor activity. throughout life. The programme also aims to provide knowledge and skills related to the adaptation of motor and sports activity to the disabled individual.
The student will be led to acquire a specific preparation concerning the fundamental dimensions of motor disciplines, also taking into account the contribution of the bio-medical, pedagogical, psychological and sociological ones, which together contribute to defining the professional profiles promoted by the graduate degree programme. The proposed itinerary will allow the formation of a culture of movement and sport understood as essential factors for the prevention of diseases, physical-motor and sports education for the disabled person.

Training

Specifically, during the first year of the programme, students will have the opportunity to:

  • know and critically analyze the possibilities of applying the fundamentals of psycho-pedagogical disciplines to the field of health maintenance;
  • know and critically analyze the pathophysiological bases of the main forms of neurological disabilities, in order to acquire the cultural tools to plan motor activity in individuals with disabilities;
  • know and critically analyze the pathophysiological bases of the main metabolic diseases, of the cardiovascular and respiratory system and of the nervous system, in order to be able to prevent or delay their onset through the planning of the  necessary motor activity;
  • know and critically analyze the pathophysiological bases of the main childhood diseases, so as to be able to prevent their onset through the planning of the necessary physical activity;
  • acquire the appropriate methodological tools to initiate collaborations in the context of original scientific research projects aimed at understanding the mechanisms through which physical activity and sport help to prevent diseases.

In the second year of the programme, students will have the opportunity to:

  • know and critically analyze the possibilities of applying the foundations of sociological disciplines to the field of health maintenance;
  • design, propose and manage education, training and post-rehabilitation recovery paths and protocols through movement;
  • know and critically analyze the pathophysiological bases of the main forms of physical and intellectualrelational disability, in order to acquire the cultural tools to plan motor activity in individuals with disabilities;
  • know and critically analyze the pathophysiological bases of the main diseases of the osteoarticular system, so as to be able to prevent their onset through the planning of the necessary motor activity;
  • know and critically analyze the pathophysiological bases of the main diseases of old age, so as to be able to prevent their onset through the planning of the necessary motor activity.

These objectives will be achieved with the activation of an adequate number of integrated teachings and courses of the MED and M-EDF/01 sectors which, in addition to the theoretical part, provide a high practical content to be carried out in suitable motor-sports facilities such as gyms and equipped fields. Teaching will be divided into classic lectures or seminars, technical-practical demonstrations in the field and individual exercises with the use of advanced tools for the analysis of the state of physical fitness, internships and internships at affiliated facilities in the area qualified in the preventive, post-rehabilitation and adaptive fields. The verification of the acquisition of these skills will take place through final and ongoing assessment tests, proposed in written, oral and practical form and the evaluation of work plans and protocols developed by the student and adapted to age, gender, disability and recovery situation and, finally, through the creation of a thesis on a topic related to the curriculum of studies.
