The programme in a nutshell

This graduate degree programme aims to train professionals in the field of advanced Biotechnology in Personalized Medicine, otherwise known as The 4 Ps Medicine (personalized, preventive, predictive and participatory).

During the first year, students gain a solid foundation of specialized knowledge in the areas of cellular and molecular biotechnology and morphological and functional sciences. The second year is structured to offer an advanced and differentiated training and includes a common part of courses, dedicated to the in-depth study of the regulatory, economic and patent aspects that regulate the industrial development of modern biotechnologies and their application in the clinical field, and a second part divided into two curricula:

  • Therapeutic curriculum: dedicated to the in-depth study of biotechnology and nanotechnology for innovative therapies,  with a focus on regenerative medicine and nanomedicine;
  • Diagnostic curriculum: dedicated to the study of new advanced diagnostic technologies in various fields, including genomics, biochemistry and forensic medicine

Graduates in "Biotechnology in Personalized Medicine" must have:

  • multidisciplinary specialist and technical knowledge aimed at the development of experimental and translational protocols in the diagnostic and therapeutic fields;
  • the capabilities necessary for the application of advanced biotechnologies in the new areas required by biotech companies, with particular reference to the creation of new devices oriented to precision medicine;
  • an in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of the regulations and deontological and bioethical issues associated with the development and use of modern biotechnologies;
  • basic skills in the areas of marketing and regulatory management, for the proper management of companies and start-ups in the field of modern biotechnology;
  • a specialized scientific culture, combined with the ability to keep up-to-date, preparatory to inclusion in post-graduate training courses, such as graduate degrees, specialization schools, and research doctorates
