The aim of the programme is twofold: to build a strong foundation in English and American culture and literature, given their worldwide diffusion in contemporary society; and to furnish essential tools in highly specific areas such as writing for cinema and television, the publishing industry, the history and production of animation, and literature and TV series for children.

The area of literature provides the basis of narrative structures and the main literary genres, from Shakespeare to contemporary English and American authors. The areas of publishing and audiovisual offer a clear understanding of how these industries operate, equipping students with the practical and critical knowledge needed to work within them.

The Faculty of Linguistic Sciences and Foreign Literatures and the graduate degree programme in The Art and Industry of Narration regularly organise workshops and industry events that bring students into direct contact with professionals working across film, television, animation, and publishing.

These occasions offer a unique opportunity to explore how creative industries operate — from development and production through to distribution and exhibition — and to build connections with leading figures in the field. Students are encouraged to attend and engage actively, as these events form an integral part of the learning experience offered by the programme.

The next event, Animation Day 2026, organised in collaboration with Cartoon Italia, explores the current landscape of Italian animation for theatrical release, bringing together authors, producers, distributors, and festival managers from the industry.
