Sport is a fascinating topic and a very large business all over the world. Researches define the global sport market around $ 400 billion, with an increasing trend. One of the main growth drivers is more channels to capture audiences: new technologies are an incredible boost in this direction.

Emerging economies are also a further area of great development for this business. There are two segments: participatory sports and spectator sports. The fitness and recreational market are the largest part of the first segment, with global players competing with the local ones in a lot of territories.

The spectator sector has attracted a lot of investment in recent years, incentivised by the returns associated with the event and infrastructure management activities. In both segments, specific management training is now required, which in many areas is still limited. Sport Business is also receiving a lot of attention by policy makers and public institutions that recognizes its economic and social value. Those who approach sport business today cannot ignore its being a territorial marketing tool and a means of development and social inclusion.
