Study Plans 2026/27
Medtec is a challenging program. Acquiring engineering knowledge enhances traditional skills, leading to better and constantly updated medical practice as well as more effective healthcare management.
The course is based on an innovative curriculum that aims to promote the training of a professional figure of Surgeon with a wealth of skills strongly enriched with the acquisition of knowledge, methodological and technological skills typical of engineering.
Students gain skills in various fields, including artificial intelligence, biosignals, omics, big data, tissue engineering, biomaterials and bioprinting, nanotechnology, electronics, biomedical and surgical robotics, neurotechnology, virtual and augmented reality.
The training course provides for the acquisition of a total of 390 ECTS in six years of the course, distributed as follows:
- 360 credits required to obtain the integrated degree in Medicine and Surgery directly qualifying for the profession (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore)
- 30 additional credits to obtain the undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering (Roma Tre University)
The professional internship activities in the hospital (at the patient's bedside) that will be carried out starting from the second year of the course will allow an early contact between the student and the reality of the hospital and will contribute to the development of problem-solving skills.
