Admission

Access to the School is subject to admission competitions, exams and qualifications.

Graduates of Master's Degree (S/2) or Master's (LM-2) degree courses in Archaeology or of the old system who have obtained a minimum of 90 ECTS in the subject areas of the characterizing field are admitted.

The degree qualification for admission to the School must be obtained by the date of the admission tests. Graduating students can still create an application form, but it is necessary that, before the date of the tests, they must enter the achievement of the degree on the portal. Failure to do so will not be admitted to the tests.

For those who are in possession of a foreign qualification, compliance with the procedures laid down by the Ministry of University and Research relating to the enrolment of foreign students in post-graduate specialization courses is required. (See http://www.cimea.it/).

In order to be admitted to the School, students are required to pass an examination consisting of

- a written test (essay on archaeology). The evaluation of this test will affect no more than 40% of the total mark available to the Commission.

- an oral test (translation from a modern foreign language of the candidate's choice and translation of a Latin passage) and practice of recognition of monuments or finds. The evaluation of this test will affect no more than 30% of the total mark available to the Commission.

In addition, no more than 30% of the total marks available to the Commission will be evaluated for the following qualifications:

  • Grade obtained in the exams of the degree course in the subjects related to the specialization;
  • Graduation grade;
  • Theses in disciplines related to specialization;
  • Publications in the above subjects.

The score of the above-mentioned qualifications is that established by the Ministerial Decree of 16 September 1982, issued pursuant to art. 13, paragraph 5 D.P.R. 162/82 published in the Official Gazette no. 275 of 6/10/1982.

The candidate must also demonstrate knowledge of the ancient languages relevant to the field in which he/she specialises and at least two modern foreign languages to be chosen from French, English and German.

The admission tests will take place on Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 December 2024 at 9.00 a.m.

Candidates who, in relation to the number of places available, have placed themselves in a useful position in the ranking compiled on the basis of the overall score reported are admitted to attend the School of Archaeological Heritage. In the event of a tie, the youngest candidate will be admitted.

Annual tuition fees amount to € 2,970 divided into two instalments: 1st instalment to be paid upon enrolment € 1,500.00; 2nd instalment to be paid by March 2025 € 1,470.00.

Four scholarships of 1500 euros will be awarded to first-year students.

The method of assignment is the merit list prepared on the basis of the overall score reported by the candidates during the admission test.
