The course in brief

The graduate degree programme in Clinical and Health Psychology: from the hospital to the community is a newly activated specialist path, designed to train clinical psychologists capable of addressing emerging challenges in the field of mental health in different hospital and territorial contexts.

The program integrates theoretical foundations and innovative application tools, training professionals able to evaluate, diagnose and design personalized interventions along the entire life cycle – from the maternal-infant dimension to geriatrics – with particular attention to the prevention of psychological well-being and the management of chronic diseases.

Course Outline

Pending initial accreditation by the Ministry of University and Research (MUR).

The graduate degree programme in Clinical and Health Psychology: from the hospital to the territory aims to train a professional figure with in-depth skills in the assessment, prevention and promotion of mental health and well-being, able to operate in clinical, hospital and territorial contexts according to the bio-psycho-social model of health.

The figure of the psychologist in clinical-health contexts is now essential for a global care of patients. Psychological assistance is in fact provided at all levels: from the district to home palliative care, from social and health care for women, minors, couples and families, to the management of neuropsychiatric disorders, mental illnesses, disabilities and pathological addictions.

In this perspective, the training offer combines psychological skills with fundamental medical preparation for the management of pathologies in which psychological treatment is closely integrated with medical treatment. Students thus acquire the knowledge necessary to operate in complex clinical contexts and develop a holistic approach to the person, attentive to the relationship between mind, body and environment.

The course integrates cutting-edge methods and technologies that expand the possibilities of traditional diagnostic and intervention protocols. These include digital therapies, cyberpsychology, tele-rehabilitation, virtual and augmented reality and bio-medical devices such as biofeedback, neurofeedback and neuromodulation, which can be applied in the clinical and neuropsychological fields.

Students develop skills, reference models and skills that allow them to carry out assessments, formulate diagnoses and design interventions, both individually and in teams, in the different contexts of public and private healthcare, throughout the course of care, from the acute phase in the hospital to taking charge in the area. The course also pays particular attention to the development of soft skills and patient experience, in order to ensure effective management of care relationships.
