Gender Equality Plan (GEP)

The University has promoted the drafting of the Gender Equality Plan , placing it in the wake of the values that inspire the University, also expressed in art. 10 of the Statute "Università Cattolica is a community of professors, students, administrative and technical staff, inspired by respect for fundamental human rights and personal and collective freedoms, as well as by the principles of solidarity" and taken up by the Code of Ethics.

Accordingly, it has implemented a long-term strategy aimed at spreading the culture of gender equality throughout the entire academic community, at stimulating the initiation of structural changes within the organisation, at closing gender gaps and at combating all forms of discrimination.

The actions envisaged by the Gender Equality Plan concern the entire academic community: students, professors, technical-administrative staff and stakeholders. They concern the reconciliation of work and family life, gender balance in top positions and in the recruitment of resources, gender integration in research and teaching programmes, and discrimination prevention.

GEP Team and GEP Unit

These are two governance structures (planning and operational) that enable the realisation, activation and monitoring of the Gender Equality Plan (GEP), i.e. the three-year action plan aimed at reducing gender imbalances.

The document breaks down the individual project activities into specific 5 areas of intervention:

  1. work-life balance and organisational culture;
  2. gender balance in leadership and decision-making positions;
  3. gender equality in recruitment and career advancement;
  4. gender mainstreaming in research topics and teaching programmes;
  5. prevention of gender discrimination
