FOCUS LIVE 2025 "Passions" – "Transdisciplinary approaches: a dialogue between mathematics, physics, art and health"

Milan

Università Cattolica at the annual Festival of Science and Innovation

Focus Live 2025: the most eagerly awaited free event for science, technology and innovation enthusiasts!

An unmissable opportunity to participate in meetings, workshops and shows, immersing yourself in the latest scientific discoveries that are changing the world in a fun way.

Professors, researchers and students from the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore will be available to illustrate the projects and discoveries that are being born and developed within the University's modern scientific centre.

The projects presented at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore stand during the three days of the festival:

  1. "StringArt: algorithmic art"
    Guglielmo Fadabini (student)
A robot loom creates works of StringArt thanks to an algorithm.

  2. "Physics and health: an electronic nose to sniff out diseases"
    Sonia Freddi (researcher)
Through the analysis of breathing, the electronic nose can recognize the presence of diseases. The application of the electronic nose also extends to other areas such as food & beverage.

  3. "From codes to quanta: a journey into the safety of the future"
Claudio Giannetti (full professor of Experimental Physics)
    QUANTUM CRYPTOGRAPHY SIMULATOR
In this workshop we will introduce the operating principles behind the transmission of encrypted messages and show how the laws of quantum mechanics can be used for secure communication against possible external attacks. The concepts introduced are the basis of modern Quantum Key Distribution technologies, which are introducing a new paradigm in the ICT world.

  4. "Nothing repeats itself: non-periodic tessellations"
Alessandro Musesti (full professor of Mathematical Physics) + team of PhD students
Humanity has always been fascinated by symmetries, what are symmetries in geometry? How many ways are there to combine these symmetries in a periodic floor?

Admission to Focus Live is free, by reservation, with limited seats.

Each day will be divided into two shifts: morning (10-14) and afternoon (14-20). To participate in the whole day it is possible to book tickets for both time slots.

For the complete program and links to book tickets click here.
The evening shows on Friday and Saturday will also be accessible for free, but with a dedicated ticket.

An opportunity not to be missed to enter the future, discover how science and technology are shaping the world and live unique experiences.
