Abstract
The recently funded Como Lake Institute of Photonics, part of the University of Insubria, collects the many theoretical and experimental groups performing research in optics and photonics within the University. In this seminar I will present the activities of the INSLIGHT and INSPECT groups, which span from quantum and nonlinear optics to biophotonics and molecular spectroscopy.
The core research lines involve quantum nonlinear optics in the mesoscopic photon regime, employing photon-number-resolving detectors, and advanced fluorescence spectroscopy to study biomolecules conformational dynamics and new materials. Beside these consolidated activities, we are exploring the development of microcavities for quantum engineering, and Raman spectroscopy to complement light scattering and fluorescence spectroscopy for the investigation of biomolecules and complex materials.
