Midwifery

1st year
Aimed at providing the knowledge for the understanding of biological phenomena, the physiology of organs and systems with particular reference to the physiology of human reproduction and embryonic development. Also aimed at providing the theoretical-practical bases of general care, obstetric-gynecological and neonatal care according to the principles of Midwifery in order to create the requirements to face the first internship experience in the professional areas of reference.

2nd year
Aimed at deepening pathophysiological, pharmacological, cardiological, specialist and care knowledge for the surveillance of physiological pregnancy and high-risk pregnancy as well as assistance to healthy and critical newborns; also aimed at providing knowledge in the obstetric-gynecological surgical field. Communication skills will also be acquired to establish a good relationship with the individual, couple and community, aimed at prevention and promotion of the health of the woman/couple/family. More internship experiences are planned to allow the student to experiment with the knowledge and techniques learned.

3rd year
Aimed at deepening oncological and endocrinological knowledge, as well as the principles of bioethics and the ethical, deontological and medico-legal rules of the midwifery profession. Also aimed at achieving progressive autonomy of clinical judgment in the management of emergencies and obstetric emergencies independently and in collaboration with other professionals. Training activities are planned aimed at acquiring methodological skills for understanding obstetric research and supporting the preparation of the final thesis. Greater importance is given to the internship experience and the student can gradually experience the assumption of autonomy with the supervision of experts.
