Profiles

The course is divided into two profiles:

  1. INTERNATIONAL SYSTEM AND EUROPEAN INTEGRATION
  2. INTERNATIONAL SYSTEM AND GLOBAL DYNAMICS

For a limited number of students (12), it will be possible to attend an international training course in English called International Relations: People, Rights and Resources (PRR), which provides, within a predefined Erasmus mobility proposal, the first semester at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, the second semester of the first year at UiS-Universitet i Stavanger (Norway) and the first semester of the second year at the University of Stavanger. Leibniz Universität Hannover (Germany).

The format

The normal duration of the graduate degree programme is two years. The teaching organisation includes frontal lectures accompanied by exercises, case studies and expert interventions, and seminar teaching initiatives.

During the first year, students will have to attend courses related to all five scientific-disciplinary areas that characterize the degree course (economic, legal, political science, sociology and history), as well as deepening their knowledge of foreign languages. The second year of studies allows students to complete their specialized preparation, placing particular emphasis on internship experiences, both in Italy and abroad, aimed at experimenting with the possibilities of making the most of the different disciplines on topics of international interest, and on the work of elaborating the thesis, an opportunity to synthesize and apply the knowledge acquired under the guidance of the supervisor.
In the graduate degree course, particular attention will be paid to analyzing:

  • the actors, dynamics and theories of international relations, the dynamics and protagonists of the European and global economic system;
  • the governance policies of economic processes and their interdependencies and the processes of social transformation in the contemporary world;
  • the dynamics related to the processes of European integration, the institutions of the European Union and their functioning;
  • macro-regional and global dynamics, in their political, historical-institutional, social and economic dimensions.

The choice of any supernumerary courses, to be evaluated when approving the study plan, must normally be consistent with the student's educational path and possibly functional to the preparation of the degree thesis. In any case, the student who intends to take a
supernumerary examination in a given scientific-disciplinary sector must have previously passed the examinations in that sector provided for as compulsory in the study plan.

At least 120 university credits must be acquired to obtain the graduate degree.
Each exam is awarded a number of credits, the same for all students, and a grade (expressed in thirtieths) that varies according to the level of preparation.
The mark awarded to the final examination is expressed in one hundred and ten.
