/ Overview

The integrated degree programme in Scienze della formazione primaria (Primary Education Sciences) at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, campus of Brescia, trains teachers for kindergarten and primary school, in response to the educational needs of the contemporary school system.

The training organically integrates disciplinary skills and educational-didactic skills, developing both the content to be taught and the most effective methodologies for learning.
The didactic system crosses the main areas of teaching in primary school, combining the basic disciplines with a solid psycho-pedagogical and methodological preparation.

The training activity is strongly oriented towards the practical dimension and is developed through continuous workshops dedicated to the design, simulation and analysis of educational practices. The laboratories are a structural component of the course, provide compulsory attendance with active participation and are a requirement for access to the exams of the related courses.

There is also an articulated internship course of 600 hours, distributed from the second to the fifth year, which allows a progressive and guided insertion into the school reality, in continuity with university education.

Finally, particular attention is paid to the educational relationship and classroom management, with the aim of training teachers capable of operating in complex and multicultural contexts.

The training activity is supported by a structured tutoring system, divided into group tutors and internship tutors, which continuously accompanies the development of professional skills, encouraging a progressive consolidation of teaching and relational skills.

The final preparation achieved allows students to develop skills in educational design, in the management of heterogeneous classes and in the conscious use of educational technologies.

/ Study Plan

Programme structure

The programme lasts five years and includes a training system that integrates lessons, workshops and internships, with an increasing experiential component over time.

During the programme, the laboratory activities accompany all the years of study and are dedicated to analysis, design and didactic simulation, while the internship starts in the second year and develops progressively up to the fifth, for a total of 600 hours.

First two years

The first two years are devoted to building basic skills in educational sciences and core teaching disciplines.

  • Psycho-pedagogical and sociological area: study of learning processes, main educational theories and social and relational dynamics in educational contexts
  • Basic subject area: introduction to primary school disciplines (linguistic, mathematical, scientific, historical-geographical and artistic)
  • Methodological foundations: first tools for observation and educational planning
  • Educational workshops: practical activities for the experimentation of the first teaching skills

Second three-year period

From the third to the fifth year, the programme focuses on the consolidation of teaching skills and the integration between educational theory and practice.

  • Disciplinary didactics: in-depth study of the methodologies for teaching the different areas of primary school
  • Educational design: development of skills for the planning and management of educational activities
  • Inclusive education: tools for managing the classroom and individual and cultural differences
  • Advanced teaching laboratories: practical activities integrated with teaching for the design, simulation and analysis of educational practices
  • Transversal skills: development of communication, relational and digital skills applied to teaching

Teaching approach

The training integrates theoretical activities, workshops and field experiences, with the aim of developing educational, didactic and relational skills for teaching in kindergarten and primary school.

Internship

The internship represents one of the central moments of the training course and allows a progressive insertion into the school reality.

  • Field experience: 600 hours in total from the second to the fifth year.
  • Qualified educational contexts: activities in kindergartens and primary schools of the national education system.
  • Professional skills: observation, design and management of teaching and classroom activities.

Educational workshops

Laboratory activities are a structural component of the training and accompany the entire course of study. Through educational design activities, simulations of teaching situations and analysis of teaching practices, students have the opportunity to test tools and methodologies useful for professional activity.

Tutoring and accompaniment

The path is supported by a tutoring system that supports students throughout the training. Group tutors promote university integration and the development of the study method, while internship tutors accompany the growth of professional skills and the construction of the teaching profile.

Connection with the territory

The preparation is closely linked to the school system and the educational realities of the territory. The discussion with schools, teachers and school managers makes it possible to integrate university training with experience in the field, promoting direct knowledge of the contexts in which future teachers will be called upon to operate.

Final examination

The final phase of the programme involves the discussion of a thesis on educational and didactic issues and the presentation of the internship report. This moment allows you to enhance the knowledge gained during your studies, integrating theory, practical experience and professional reflection.
