FIRST YEAR
During the first year of the course, the following topics will be addressed:
- The genetic basis and development of the nervous system in typical and atypical evolutionary trajectories, with particular reference to the neurobiological mechanisms that convey the effects of the interaction between the individual and the environment on brain organization (epigenetics);
- The biological and psychological processes underlying the transition to parenthood: from the imaginary child to the real child;
- The impact of genetic diseases, prematurity, chronic diseases and disorders, and oncological diseases on the relationship between the child and its parents: intervention models to support the child and the parental couple;
- The development of social competence in the early years of life
- The impact of new technologies on educational models
- Child psychopathology and early-onset mental disorders
The professionalizing activities will be carried out mainly in health authorities, hospitals, IRCCS, affiliated polyclinics.

- Social and cultural inclusion processes in educational contexts: risk factors and opportunities to promote integration;
- Deviant behaviors in adolescence: risk and protective factors;
- Substance Addiction and New Addictions (Internet Gaming Addiction);
- Adolescent psychopathology;
- The rules governing family relationships and the legal instruments for the protection of minors.
The professionalizing activities will be carried out mainly in health authorities, family counseling centers, reception facilities, family homes.

During the third year of the course, the following topics will be addressed:
- Maltreatment and abuse, bullying and cyberbullying: the outcomes of traumatic experiences in developmental age;
- Models of psychotherapeutic intervention for the treatment of trauma in childhood and young adulthood;
- Models of protection of minors in networked contexts;
- Elements of criminology;
- Elements of forensic medicine.
The professionalizing activities will be carried out mainly in health authorities, family counseling centers, reception facilities, family homes, prisons, courts.

During the fourth year of the course, the following topics will be addressed:
- Assessment protocols and models of psychotherapeutic intervention;
- Management in the case of eating disorders;
- The construction of couple relationships in adolescents and young adults: preventive and support interventions for victims of gender-based violence;
- Organisation of work in health services and legislative framework.
A significant part of the total number of hours of the fourth year will be dedicated to the drafting of the final dissertation by the postgraduate students.
The professionalizing activities will be carried out mainly in hospitals, health authorities, IRCCS, family counseling centers, reception facilities, family homes, courts.

General Organization / Calendar
The calendar of classes will be organized in such a way as not to interfere with professional activities. Therefore, the hours of face-to-face teaching will be fixed on weekends (2 hours on Friday afternoon, 4 hours on Saturday morning and 2 hours on Saturday afternoon), every other week, from January to May-June.
The teaching activity will take place within Università Cattolica, in blended mode, according to a learner-centered approach and using all the potential of Integrated Digital Teaching, to offer innovative learning experiences (e.g. Flipped classroom, Jigsaw method); the professional activities will take place at external affiliated locations, proposed by the School of Specialization, in relation to the topics covered over the course of the individual years.
Lessons will be delivered from both the Milan and Rome campuses: participants will be able to follow remotely, synchronously, in the seat of choice, in classrooms made available to follow the lessons remotely, with the presence of a classroom tutor.
