Learning objectives

The School also aims to train students in the knowledge of the organization of the health facilities in which they will operate, of the ethical and legislative aspects in general and of the medical-legal aspects with particular reference to the profession of neuropsychologist.

In parallel with the in-depth study of specific clinical issues, during the four years the residents will receive training on the methodological and epistemological foundations of neuropsychology and related disciplines, in their theoretical and applicative dimensions.

The distribution of the training topics in the four years of the specialization course is progressively articulated by the knowledge of the organization of the central nervous system (CNS), on the anatomical-physiological and genetic level, of the biological and cognitive models of behavior, of the clinical-pathological contexts deriving from brain pathologies in which the cognitive-behavioral syndromes of neuropsychology are framed, both in the adult patient and in the child and teenager. Starting from these bases, during the course will be progressively acquired

  • knowledge of neuropsychologist diagnostic techniques and tools, primarily test administration, interpretation and psychometric validation;
  • the ability to plan and monitor rehabilitation treatments.

Psychological and psychotherapeutic interventions, mainly aimed at promoting the psychosocial well-being of the neuropsychological patient, will also be considered.

Trainees will be trained in the main clinical areas of application of neuropsychology, both in adulthood and in childhood and adolescence (psychology, neurology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, child neuropsychiatry).
