Overview

Criminology is a new profile of the Undergraduate degree programme in Sociology. It is a unique offering at the national level, presenting an innovative and multidisciplinary approach to the field of criminology.

The first year provides a solid foundation in various social sciences, complemented by essential academic and methodological skills.

In the second year, the curriculum is enriched with courses in social psychology, organisational sociology, and cultural sociology, providing an introduction to criminological theories and methodologies.

The third year focuses on advanced methodological skills and includes an introduction to programming in R/Python.

Admission

To enrol in the Undergraduate degree programme in Sociologia (profle in Criminology), candidates must meet the admission requirements outlined on unicatt.it. It is advisable to regularly check the programme pages for updates, which will be posted in the early months of 2025.

In addition to meeting the admission criteria, candidates must have a sufficient command of the English language, at least at level B2.

ADMISSION TEST | MORE INFO

The admission test takes place online and is delivered in English, in several sessions. It lasts 40 minutes and consists of 30 questions in the subject area of Reading comprehension (including logic) and general knowledge in English.

When filling in the application form, the candidate must upload and/or self-certify, under his/her own responsibility, his/her report card and grade point average from the penultimate year of secondary school, a cover letter written in English and a recognised English language certificate.

INFO FOR STUDENTS WITH PENULTIMATE YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL ABROAD

To register for the admission test to the programme, you must declare in the Enrolment Portal the average obtained in the penultimate year of secondary school.
If you are about to obtain or have obtained an Italian diploma and have attended the entire penultimate year of secondary school abroad, in order to register for the admission test you must declare in the Enrolment Portal the average converted according to the Italian grading system and upload the report card issued to you by the Italian school.
If you are unable to retrieve the converted report card, but you have the average in tenths relating to the year spent abroad, you can upload an official document issued by the school certifying this information.
If, on the other hand, you only have a document indicating the school credits assigned, you must upload it and take into account that the average obtained is defined according to the following table:

If you do not have one of the above documents, declare the average obtained in the third-to-last year and upload, in a single file, the relative report card and the transcript of the penultimate year carried out abroad.

PLEASE NOTE:

If you have only spent the 1st semester abroad , declare the average obtained in the second semester, expressed in tenths and upload the report card of the penultimate year showing the average obtained in the final examination in tenths.

If you have only completed the 2nd semester abroad , declare the converted average according to the Italian grading system and upload the report card with the marks of the final scrutiny issued by the Italian school.

If you are unable to find the report card with the converted final scrutiny grades or a document showing the average or credits obtained at the end of the penultimate year, declare the average obtained at the end of the 1st semester carried out in Italy and upload, in a single file, the transcript of the semester carried out abroad and the report card of the first semester attended in Italy.

PLEASE NOTE: under no circumstances will translations of foreign transcripts or self-certifications of conversion of grades be accepted.
