Training Event for Caregivers

Having a parent or family member who ages and "is no longer the same as before" is a challenging, complex and not without painful transition, which involves both daily and identity changes.

The aging family member who becomes increasingly fragile requires a different form of assistance, often evolving into real caregiving. This is a process that is not taken for granted and often painful because it requires the family member (child or spouse) not only to take on the role of caregiver but also to transform their identity as a child or partner into a child or caregiver partner.

Feeling supported during this journey is important and, to this end, the University Centre for Family Studies and Research offers a day of theoretical reflection and training aimed at external professionals but also at the teaching staff and technical-administrative staff of our University.

The day will be divided into two moments: a theoretical morning in which volume 34 of Studies "The aging family. Living and accompanying the transition to fragility", curated by Donatella Bramanti and Silvia Donato and an afternoon of training, aimed at sharing experiences related to accompaniment to fragility and enhancing the resources one already possesses, especially if accompanied by relationship professionals.

The University, as part of the projects envisaged by the Gender Equality Plan and the Working Table on Equal Opportunities of the University Strategic Plan, offered free participation in the event to the Teaching Staff and Technical and Administrative Staff of our University.

The meeting took place on 24 January 2025, from 10.00 to 17.00
