Debate
Open lecture dedicated to Sigmund Freud's essay The Future of an Illusion (1927) as part of the course of Dynamic Psychology and in agreement with H.E. Monsignor Claudio Giuliodori.
"These (religious representations) are presented as dogmas, they are not the results of experience or the conclusive results of an activity of thought, but they are illusions, the fulfillment of the oldest, strongest, most pressing desires of humanity; the secret of their strength lies in the very strength of these desires" (Freud, 1927, 460). Starting from this and other statements by Freud, the lecture aims to be an opportunity for discussion and in-depth study on a theme that cannot fail to extend its influence on the meaning of human existence and death, as well as on that of hope.
