/ Overview

Communication Management (COMMA) is the English-language curriculum within the Undergraduate Degree Programme in Comunicazione e Società, designed for students who want to develop skills in strategic communication in international contexts and the creative industries.

The programme combines a solid interdisciplinary education in the social sciences with the study of communication, media, economics, law and organisational processes. This approach enables students to understand the role of communication in value creation processes and in the strategies of contemporary organisations.

Particular attention is paid to the fashion, food, lifestyle and creative industries, with learning activities that combine theory and practical application through workshops, real-world projects and direct interaction with professionals in the field.

The Milan campus is a distinctive feature of the programme: studying in Italy’s capital of fashion, design and media gives students access to companies, creative agencies and organisations operating in major communication markets.

Why choose Communication Management - COMMA at Università Cattolica?

Communication Management (COMMA) combines a solid foundation in the social sciences with an international outlook and a strong focus on strategic communication and the creative industries.

/ Study plan

Programme structure

The Communication Management (COMMA) curriculum allows students to explore communication from different perspectives, while maintaining a common foundation in the social sciences and media studies.

Over the three years, the programme provides students with the tools to understand the dynamics of contemporary communication and its role in economic, cultural and organisational processes.

  • Strategic and organisational communication: study of the role of communication in decision-making processes, organisations and engagement with different audiences.
  • Media and digital culture: analysis of media systems, digital platforms and changing patterns of media consumption.
  • Brands, consumption and markets: in-depth study of the relationships between communication, consumer behaviour and value creation for organisations and brands.
  • Fashion, food and lifestyle communication: focus on sectors that are central to the creative industries and represent one of the programme’s distinctive areas of focus.
  • International dimension: study of communication in global and intercultural contexts within a programme taught entirely in English.

Teaching approach

Teaching in the Communication Management (COMMA) programme combines academic teaching with practical activities to develop skills in analysing, designing and managing communication in organisational and professional contexts.

The programme combines the study of key theoretical models with hands-on activities that allow students to apply concepts, tools and approaches to real-world situations.

  • Workshops and project activities enable students to apply communication methods and tools to case studies and professional contexts.
  • Storytelling workshops and visual communication studios enable students to develop skills in creating and organising content for different audiences and platforms.
  • Multidisciplinary projects bring together sociological, economic and communication perspectives in the analysis of complex problems and scenarios.
  • Interaction with industry professionals provides opportunities to explore the practices, language and dynamics that characterise the contemporary communication landscape.
  • Internship as part of the curriculum enables students to apply what they have learned during their studies in professional contexts aligned with the programme’s learning objectives.

Useful information

Practical information to help you enrol and get started at Università Cattolica.

Students who attended their second-to-last year of high school abroad

To register for the admission test for the Communication Management programme, you must enter your average grade from your second-to-last year of high school in the Enrolment Portal.

If you are working towards or have already obtained an Italian high school diploma and attended your entire second-to-last year of high school abroad, you must enter your average grade converted to the Italian grading system in the Enrolment Portal and upload the high school transcript issued by your Italian school to register for the admission test.

If you cannot obtain a transcript showing your converted grades but have an average grade on a 10-point scale for the year you spent abroad, you can upload an official document issued by your school confirming this information.

If the only document you have shows the school credits awarded, you must upload it. Your average grade will then be determined according to the following table:

Internships and career opportunities

The programme offers a range of internship opportunities, allowing students to apply the skills developed during their studies in real-world professional settings.

Internships and professional training

The internship enables students to gain experience in professional settings related to the programme’s areas of study and to apply the knowledge and tools developed over the three years.

Students can undertake internships at:

  • media and digital organisations, working on editorial activities, digital communication and content production;
  • companies in the fashion, food and lifestyle sectors, where communication plays a central role in audience engagement and brand development;
  • cultural institutions and third-sector organisations, working on the design and delivery of communication initiatives for different stakeholders.

The programme also offers professional development opportunities in national and international contexts, giving students exposure to different organisational and professional models.

The Career Service supports students and graduates as they prepare to enter the job market, providing career guidance and resources to help them navigate different professional and organisational contexts. It supports the development of transversal skills, creates opportunities to meet employers and helps students develop an informed and coherent career path.

Every year, more than 20,000 students take part in events organised with over 100 partner companies, and more than 9,500 undertake an internship with support from the Career Service and internship tutors.
