Specialisation Schools are an advanced postgraduate training programme designed to provide specialised skills and essential skills for highly qualified roles. This type of training is specifically aimed at responding to the needs required for the exercise of particular professions, in accordance with European directives and specific legislative regulations (with reference to Ministerial Decree 270/2004).

The duration of studies varies from a minimum of three years (corresponding to 180 university credits) to a maximum of five years (300 university credits), depending on the subject area chosen. Upon successful completion of the training course, the title of "Specialist" in the chosen field is awarded, recognizing the acquisition of advanced and specialized skills in the field of study.

There are 56 Specialisation Schools in the Health Area for Doctors and Non-Doctors on the Rome campus with over 2000 student residents and a training network that has its heart in the A. Gemelli IRCCS University Hospital in Rome and related structures throughout the country.

Policlinico Gemelli has been recognized again as one of the best hospitals in the world, ranking 35th and first among hospitals in Italy for the fourth consecutive year; moreover, the renewal of the JCI (Joint Commission International) accreditation is a further recognition of the quality and excellence in care, training and research activities.

In particular, in the field of research activities, the Polyclinic has shown an extraordinary ability to attract public and private resources, which has brought it to the top of national realities within a few years, proposing it to the almost unique role of multi-sectoral IRCCS .
