Light interaction with nano and micro objects is a challenging field with many potential applications, ranging from biological systems to nanoplastics. When the light wavelength is approaching the system dimension, effects such as multiple scattering may have to be included in models or simulations to establish a morphology/refractive index relationship.
The workshop aims to bring together expert from adjacent fields to discuss the current developments of the experimental techniques and of the modelling issues to include effects beyond e.g. the Mie theory in the interpretation of experimental data.

Brescia is about:
- 50 km from Bergamo-Orio al Serio (BGY) airport, sometimes called Milano-Orio airport
- 70 km from Verona-Villafranca airport
- 100 km from Milano-Linate airport
- 140 km from Milano-Malpensa airport
Bergamo-Orio al Serio Airport is a common destination for several low cost companies. If you plan to arrive there, take a bus shuttle (navetta) to Brescia or go to the Bergamo City Railway Station by bus or taxi and take a train to Brescia (one train per hour, 1 hour travel time).
Please note that taxies may be very expensive in Italy. Both Milano-Linate and Milano-Malpensa airports are well linked with Milan City (by Train or buses) and once there you can take a fast train to Brescia (40 minutes travel time). There are Bus-shuttle too from Milan Airport to Brescia. Please take a look to the airport web sites.
Brescia sits on the main train line connection Milan-Venice. Journey times from Milan to Brescia are between approx. 40 minutes (Frecciarossa services) to slightly less than 1 hour 10 minutes (Regionale services). Fares range from € 7,00 to € 35,00 for a 2nd class ticket dependent on the service taken. For further information and tickets, see www.trenitalia.com or www.italotreno.it
If you come by motorway, we suggest you to exit at "Brescia Centro" and park at the metro station "Poliambulanza", then you can take the subway (direction "Prealpino") and stop to "Europa" station. If you want to reach the city by car, be careful, there are no parking nearby. The nearest parking is Piazzale Vivanti (about 1 km away).
The Campus of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore is in Mompiano (via della Garzetta 48, Brescia).
