Guillermo Hernández Barrocal is a Spanish pianist whose training develops between Spain and important European musical centers. After his initial studies at the Superior Conservatory of Salamanca, he perfected his preparation with masters of recognized international prestige, deepening both the great solo repertoire and chamber music.

Since his training years he has obtained prizes and awards in national and international piano competitions, distinguishing himself for his interpretative maturity and technical solidity. These statements marked the beginning of a concert career that led him to perform regularly in Spain and in various European countries, in festivals, chamber music seasons and reviews dedicated to the piano repertoire.

As a soloist, he tackled a wide repertoire ranging from Viennese classicism to the historical twentieth century, with a particular predilection for romantic literature – Brahms, Chopin, Liszt – and for less frequented pages of the Spanish and European repertoire. His chamber music activity sees him collaborate with instrumentalists and ensembles of various origins, in programs that enhance the dialogue between piano and other instruments.

Parallel to his concert activity, Barrocal carries out an intense educational and dissemination activity. He is involved in training projects, masterclasses and initiatives dedicated to young musicians, contributing to the dissemination of piano culture and the training of new generations. His figure is also distinguished by his commitment to the promotion of the repertoire and for the care in the stylistic deepening of the works performed.

His interpretative style is recognized for its balance between structural rigor and expressive freedom, for the control of sound and for a careful reading of the architectural construction of the musical text. In his performances formal clarity, lyrical intensity and a particular attention to timbral color coexist, elements that characterize his artistic identity both in the solo and chamber music fields

Great music in Milan

The PIANO IN THE UNIVERSITY Project is the result of an agreement between the Milan branch of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and one of the most important manufacturers in the world of musical instruments, Kawai Pianos of Hamamatsu (Japan). Its promoters are the Master Davide Cabassi (professor at the Milan Conservatory) and Prof. Enrico Reggiani (director of the Studium Musicale di Ateneo) as, respectively, artistic creator and scientific director.
The aim of the Project is to contribute to enriching the musical offer of the City of Milan according to innovative criteria and methods from a cultural-musicological point of view and of the highest artistic profile, first of all, by establishing a chamber music season at the Aula Magna of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan which will make use of established and prestigious names in international piano concertism.
