A dialogue in honour of Alfredo Malavolta with Umberto Bottazzini and Danilo Zardin to discuss the development of mathematics since the seventeenth century. Exploring new continents, opening new perspectives to science and philosophy to go beyond the rediscovery of the Ancients with the awareness of the novelty announced right from the titles of the works: Nova is Tartaglia's scientia, Kepler's Nova is Astronomy, Galileo talks about two new sciences, Bacon talks about a novum organum, and finally Leibniz's Nova methodus announces the birth of the infinitesimal calculus.
