An Overview of Number Theory: Riemann and Dedekind Zeta Functions

Brescia

Dr Giulia PELIZZARI
The University of New South Wales, Canberra

Abstract
What is number theory? This talk introduces the field through its most foundational objects: prime numbers and the open problems surrounding them. We will examine the Riemann zeta function and its generalization to algebraic number fields, the Dedekind zeta function. Finally, we will discuss the subconvexity problem—a critical area of research that seeks to improve upon the Phragmén–Lindelöf convexity bound.
