Mathematics is above all art and beauty. Just as many arts have tried to describe and tell the most disparate topics (the beauty of painting, poetry and music have often recalled the beauty of the most impalpable feelings and concepts over the centuries), in the same way mathematical objects can do so. Mathematics is indeed the language of nature, science and technology, but it also has a very strong evocative value. Through some analogies between significant mathematical objects (set theory, algebra, geometry and topology) and concepts from other disciplines, a mathematical itinerary in Christian thought is possible.
FRANCESCO MALASPINA
Born in 1978, he is full professor of geometry at the Department of Mathematical Sciences of the Polytechnic University of Turin. His research activity focuses on algebraic geometry. He wrote the book God and the Hypercube. Mathematical itinerary in Christianity, Effatà, Cantalupa (To) 2025.
